My Creative Space

This week I needed to get some fresh air and clear my head.

My creative space moved outdoors.
Where I sat and sketched some new ideas.
And lay on a blanket enjoying the morning sun.

And the view of the Botanical Gardens.

And when I came home, I gave Petal a wash of watercolour. I have kept the original black and white but The Coach printed me some copies on watercolour paper to play with, thank-you for the suggestion peeps.

For more creative words and pictures go and visit Kirsty, it's a regular party over at her place. Thanks Kirsty.

My Creative Space

I hope Kirsty won't mind, but I've taken some liberties with my creative space this week.

Rather then presenting my space (really, the creative nook can only look interesting from so many angles) I thought I'd share the progress of a very special project I am currently working on.

A certain, rather observant, four year old came to me the other week and queried why I was doing so many lovely pictures, none of which were ending up on her wall (all together now.....awwww). Naturally, I promptly promised her a picture.

The thing about four year olds is that a promise generally implies immediate action..hmm....the other thing about four year olds is that they can be very, very persistent. So here is where I'm at, from a pencil sketch to ink. This is my Petal. To be honest I am rather in love with this picture and a little nervous about adding colour, I just don't want to ruin her. So wish me luck and don't forget to catch up with all the other wonderful creativity over at Kootoyoo.

My Creative Space

Since I last posted about my creative space, I have learnt that Thursday is creative space day. I realise that today is not Thursday, it is Sunday, but what can I say, my creative juices flow more freely on the weekend.

Today was so superb on the weather front that I decided to move my easel out on to the deck, why wouldn't you ? The gentle breeze did attempt to wreak havoc on my watercolour but I persevered, and although I didn't really have an idea when I started, I thought it turned out quite cute albeit with a rather mismatched colour scheme.

The down side to rediscovering my passion for painting is that there is a small mountain forming on the floor next to my dining table. Paper, sketch pads, pencils, pens, my watercolour set.......it's threatening to take over I tell you. Hmmm, perhaps I'll put that on my agenda for Thursday.

My Creative Space

I'm not quite certain who began the 'My Creative Space' post idea, but if I'm not mistaken it may have been Kootoyoo. I have seen some lovely little posts pop up at Loobylu, Bugandpop and Hoppo Bumpo, so I thought it might be fun to join in.

My creative space is my lovely dining table (see Coach, I still love this dining table, it was worth every penny) which is also my work station, computer desk, nail painting area and.....oh yes, when the need arises, the place that we eat our meals.

Last week a picture popped into my head. It involved a young girl who was completely oblivious to a small black cat desperately trying to get her attention and a fluttering cherub taking aim on a balloon which housed a strategically placed love heart. Can you see where I was going with the idea ?

Today I had some time up my sleeve so I thought I'd try and sketch the image. I'm enjoying playing around with ink images with just a hint of colour. Unfortunately at the moment I'm limited by my felt tip fine liners (have I drooled over a lovely Rotring technical pen set ? Urm...maybe...) but as this is merely a hobby at the moment, I think that's okay. We are a family who loves to draw, oh yes we are, happy days in the Waffler home.
