Not a lot of colour floating around my creative space today. I am back to Stage One of a new project, sketching whales and little boys, trying to draw a pirate hat and enjoying seeing these new little people take shape. I'm still tweaking the pencil images but hope to move onto ink outlines pretty soon. It's so thrilling to find an image from my head appearing on a piece of paper, I think that I end up as surprised as anyone.
For lots more lovely creative spaces scoot on over to
Kootoyoo's, but don't forget to have a warm cuppa beside you so you can really take the time to admire all the cleverness.
wow! these are great! I am always envious of those that can draw like that!!
ReplyDeleteThank-you Selina.
ReplyDeleteOMG!! I love it!!
ReplyDeletei want to be able to ride a whale like that. Lucky you that you can draw all of the things I want to do.
ReplyDeleteWow - you are so talented. Your drawings are fabulous. TFS. Anita.xx
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how because your drawings are so amazing, I just assumed that getting things from your head to paper would be easy. He seems like a very friendly whale, allowing his passengers to have their adventures.
ReplyDeleteI love your images and the process. Reminds me of how desperate my 8 year old is to get her pen liscence and how we are constantly telling her to slow down and enjoy the process.
ReplyDelete@numberchic : OMG, I'm so relieved ;)
ReplyDelete@Melanie : Did you see the NZ film Whale Rider ? Sooo fabulous.
@Anita : Thank-you.
@Nikki : Thanks Nikki, oh no, some images look brilliant in my head and then totally don't work. But I guess that's what makes it all the more satisfying when you create something you like.
@Kate : Thank-you. I think it's easy to forget that there's a process when you only see finished pieces. I like the way they evolve. I can understand your daughters impatience, pens are cool :)
Lovely drawings! Must feel good for it to all come together so beautifully. Can't wait to see how it progresses from here. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the boys riding the whale. Great sketches!

ReplyDeleteThese are so fantastic, you really need to set up an etsy shop or something because they are FANTASTIC (please read this a la Mary Murphy, alright??). Love them, can't wait to see them evolve. x
ReplyDeleteah the quiet stroke of a pencil on paper is a special sound ~these are looking good!
ReplyDeletewow, your drawings would make for some gorgeous redwork! i love the simple grey-lead lines.
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet sweet drawings! I'm envious of anyone who can draw so freely. I have so many ideas I want to get on paper, but I can't draw! It's frustrating.
ReplyDeleteThank-you all for stopping by and leaving such nice comments. I shall have to be careful or there may be a pencil show down, this homestead may not be big enough for two Le Artistes.
ReplyDeleteyour drawings are so beautiful. they capture the personalities of the subjects so well. i so wish that i could draw. stick figures are my style

ReplyDeleteHow gorg are these! And how funny whilst you were writing all about pirate hats I was busy trying to make one, for my poppets 'Talk like a pirate' day... or are you just a sheer genius and had it all planned ; )
ReplyDelete~ Alisa
Ha Alisa,I would really like to say that I'm a sheer genius, but I would be telling fibs :)
